- Agents of unidentified federal law enforcement organizations have been literally grabbing protesters in Portland off of the streets and taking them away in unmarked vans. They do not have the permission of the governor or mayor nor are they working with local law enforcement. Unusual doesn’t cover this.
- Yesterday the president attacked Joe Biden for not granting most favored nation status to The United States. This status is conferred on US trading partners and results in lower trade barriers. While it’s unlikely Trump understood what he was saying, he was complaining that The United States was not fairly trading with The United States. For years now he has shown he does not have a basic grasp of what trade is.
- The president took a photograph from The White House promoting Goya foods as their CEO pledged support of Trump. Such a promotion is illegal. The White House and Republicans like Senator Ted Cruz have responded by saying it’s racist to criticize the company.
- As the White House has tried to distance itself from Peter Navarro’s column attacking Dr. Anthony Fauci, the LA Times learned that Trump encouraged him to write it.
- The president’s lawyers have filed new objections to Manhattan DA Cy Vance subpoenaing Trump’s tax returns as part of an investigation into Trump’s illegal payments to his mistresses during the campaign. The Supreme Court recently ruled the president is not immune from such subpoenas. Despite promising to release his tax returns, Trump has now spent 4 years trying to make sure they are not made public.
- Last year Eric Trump claimed the Trump organization only charged the government $50 per room when the Secret Service has to stay at Trump businesses. David Farenthold of The Washington Post has so far been unable to find a single instance of that happening. The Trump organization charges the government up to $650 per room when Trump visits his own properties. We don’t know the full amount as Steve Mnuchin has been blocking congress from receiving that information. Trump is the first president who refused to divest from his businesses and frequently spends tax dollars at his hotels.
- Frequent White House guests Diamond and Silk, who have also testified before Congress as guests of the Republicans, said that hospitals reporting increases in Covid-19 deaths need to be investigated. They recently were fired from Fox News’s streaming channel for their continual promotion of Covid-19 conspiracy theories.
- Trump campaign spokesman Hogan Gidley was asked about Americans not being allowed to travel to Canada due to our handling of the pandemic. Gidley responded by asking why anyone would want to leave America, because it’s so great. He later added on Twitter that perhaps the anchor asking him this question should move to Canada.
- Jenna Ellis, legal adviser to both the president and his campaign, gave an interview on RT bashing US media. RT is funded and run by the Russian government.
- Republican Ron Johnson is moving forward with subpoenas to investigate Joe Biden’s son Hunter. If you’re keeping track here, investigating Donald Trump during a campaign is the greatest scandal in American history but investigating Joe Biden during a campaign is just fine. Johnson’s investigation is based on a right-wing conspiracy theory. There isn’t anything here.
- Multiple times now Trump has warned that Biden is going to “abolish the suburbs” with his support of fair housing regulations. What Trump means by this is that black people will live there. Trump is quite familiar with these regulations as he was caught refusing to rent to black families in his own properties – twice.
- In another bizarre meandering campaign speech paid for by taxpayers, the president spoke once again about energy efficient appliances and how great it is that he’s getting rid of them, saying that people with low water usage dishwashers had to run them multiple times in a row, which is not a thing that has ever happened. In the past, the president has said people with low-flow toilets have to flush them 10-15 times in a row.
