- This morning the president once again said the coronavirus will “just disappear.” The highest number of new infections in the US was today, with over 50,000 new cases. In February the president said there were only 15 cases which would “soon” be going to near zero.
- The new defense bill was set to have a provision requiring campaigns to report foreign offers of assistance. Senate Republicans forced its removal. The president has threatened to veto the bill if it requires renaming military bases named after Confederate traitors. (He won’t.)
- Trump campaign adviser Katrina Pierson posted a meme calling Rep. Ilhan Omar a terrorist. In the past, Pierson blamed Obama for a serviceman losing his life 4 years before Obama was elected, blamed Obama for invading Afghanistan which happened 7 years before he was elected, and called Obama a “half-breed.”
- The president today called the Black Lives Matter logo “a symbol of hate.” Meanwhile, the Trump campaign store introduced a new tshirt today, using a logo reminiscent of the one used by the Nazi Party.
- Trump said the Russian bounty story was a hoax from the “fake news,” his go to epithets for news cycles he doesn’t like. But numerous stories have broken in the last few days with details about the program and his knowledge of it. The bounty program was included in Trump’s written briefing materials on Feb. 27. NSA Robert O’Brien announced Trump’s briefer did not VERBALLY mention it to him, but it was in writing. On the same day he received the information, Trump spent 45 minutes in the Oval Office meeting with Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson who were about to perform a play about the “deep state” which consisted of reading texts from FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. This was after being informed that Russia was paying terrorists to murder American servicemen. The program Trump calls a hoax was discussed with the UK government and NATO. The New York Times has discovered not only the price paid for American lives (up to $100,000), but has identified the Afghani who facilitated the Russian payments.
