- A day after multiple Department of Justice employees testified about AG Barr interfering in cases to help Trump, the New York Times published a story revealing Barr had a memo drafted arguing that Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, should not have been prosecuted for a campaign finance crime over the hush money payment to Stormy Daniels with him Trump had an affair shortly after the birth of his youngest son. Trump’s name is hidden in Cohen’s conviction as “Individual 1” in stating Trump ordered the payments.
- In the hearing yesterday former Deputy Attorney General Donald Ayer, a Republican, said, “I am here because I believe that William Barr poses the greatest threat in my lifetime to our rule of law and to public trust in it.”
- By a 2-1 vote, a federal appeals court has ruled Michael Flynn’s conviction should be thrown out. The presiding judge has put a stay on the order and will almost certainly request an en banc hearing from the entire appeals court, rather than the three judge panel. Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his phone calls with Russian ambassador Kislyak in which Flynn asked the Russians to not retaliate over Obama’s sanctions as Trump would be trying to undo them when he took office. Those who agreed at the time Flynn lied to the FBI include Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and Michael Flynn.
- The Trump White House had Senator Cramer block a bipartisan bill which would have condemned China’s actions in Hong Kong.
- Trump once again attacked NATO allies for being “delinquent” on payments to NATO. For years now Trump has not understood that NATO countries are supposed to spend money on their own militaries but otherwise do not owe each other money. Bob Woodward’s book Fear detailed Trump advisors trying to get him to understand no NATO members owed the US anything to no avail.
- Kellyanne Conway said in March calling the coronavirus “Kung Flu” was highly offensive. She’s now defending the president saying it multiple times and attacking the reporter who said in March a White House staffer had said it for not identifying the staffer. Conway now says the term is a way of reminding people the virus originated in China.
- The Pentagon will be sending 4,000 troops to the southern border shortly before the election. Expect Trump to increase his anti-immigrant rhetoric.
- In a large release of emails secured by Jason Leopold of Buzzfeed, the Department of Justice was extensively coordinating with Fox News on stories and TV appearances. This included instructing anchors on what questions to ask on air and pointing out tweets they wanted covered to producers. No, things do not normally operate this way.
- This morning Trump said, again, that the US wouldn’t have coronavirus cases if we didn’t test. In a Fox News Town Hall tonight he said it again. During the same Town Hall he was asked to give his biggest accomplishment and he said it was signing the Veterans Choice Act. That act was signed into law by Barack Obama. Trump has repeatedly lied about it. When asked what his goals for a second term were, Trump attacked John Bolton and couldn’t name any.
Wow! I can’t ever remember reading this many lies in one article ANYWHERE! Why waste your life on a blog when ANY TV channel would hire you in a heart-beat to write lies for them. Go get ‘Em!
