- At a protest against Covid-19 restrictions, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear was hung in effigy by a member of the 3 Percenters, a right-wing quasi-militia. a 3 Percenter officer who was present said the organization did not support the mock lynching. She failed to mention that the man hanging Beshear was her husband, the president of the local organization.
- Over the Memorial Day Weekend, the president furiously tweeted about a wide range of his typical rants. He retweeted a man calling Hillary Clinton a “skank,” making a fat joke about Stacey Abrams, and mocking Nancy Pelosi’s physical appearance. He sent multiple tweets about “Obamagate,” the conspiracy theory he has invented. He defended golfing as the county neared 100,000 Covid-19 deaths while attacking Biden and Obama for playing golf while in office. Brit Hume mocked Biden for wearing a mask. The president retweeted it. Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany was asked about this and said it was “peculiar” that Biden had been quarantining at home without a mask and was now wearing one in public. A reporter pointed out he was following CDC guidelines. McEnany responded that this was merely “recommended and not required.” To be clear here, the president and his press secretary are attacking Joe Biden for wearing a mask to help prevent the spread of a deadly disease as their own CDC advises.
- Several of his Tweets were directed at Joe Scarborough, calling for the “cold case” into the death of an intern in Scarborough’s office in 2001 to be reopened. There is no cold case. There was no crime. Lori Klausutis had a heart condition that caused her to faint and killed her in a tragic accident. The president has insinuated she was having an affair with Scarborough. Klausutis’s husband published a letter in which he begged Twitter to remove the president’s Tweets accusing his wife of an affair and saying her accidental death was a murder. Twitter refused but offered an apology for the pain the president has caused him and his family. When McEnany was asked about this, she deflected by saying it wasn’t “an original Trump thought” and that Scarborough needed to answer for 17 year old comments on a radio morning show. She then cut off Yamiche Alcindor to take a question from OANN about Obama wiretapping Trump Tower, an event that never happened. The president said he has seen the letter from Dr. Klausutis, but thinks the man “wants to get to the bottom” of what happened. This is a vile disgusting lie.
- While Twitter has taken no action regarding the president’s lies about Lori Klausutis, they have rolled out a new feature fact checking a Tweet of the president’s about voter fraud via mail-in voting. The fact check leads to an article explaining that voter fraud via mail is essentially non-existent. The president was furious over this action and said Twitter was interfering in the election and he would not “allow” it to happen. Twitter is a private company and the president has zero authority over them. Trump campaign manager sent out an email saying actions like this were why the campaign pulled advertising off Twitter months ago. This is a lie. Twitter banned all political advertisements in October.
- During remarks at an event centered on diabetes, the president wondered if he should be taking insulin. Insulin is an extremely dangerous drug which should only be taken at the direction of a doctor for a patient who has diabetes. A reported asked if there was a reason to take insulin if you did not have diabetes. The president brought up Surgeon General Adams who spoke about the body producing insulin while avoiding embarrassing the president by pointing out that no, you should not take insulin except to treat diabetes. The president asked Jeff Mason to remove his mask to ask a question. Mason refused, resulting in the president saying he was only wearing a mask the be “politically correct.” He made this statement immediately after saying he hadn’t been criticizing Biden for wearing a mask. (He was criticizing Biden for wearing a mask).
Good work. Keep it up. Well done.
