The president retweeted someone calling for Dr. Fauci to be fired. When asked about wanting to fire Fauci yesterday the president attacked the press for making it up. A reporter pointed out he had posted a tweet to his timeline calling for Fauci to be fired. It was clear from his response he had no idea it said that. His defense was that he likes controversy and sharing opinions.
Yesterday’s Covid-19 press conference was the typical disaster, but in the middle of it, the president ran a propaganda video that attacked the media for criticizing the president while promoting people who have praised him. It included a timeline of the government’s response to the pandemic which completely excluded the month of February. When asked why the video didn’t include any actions taken in February the president said he’d provide a list. Several of the clips were nearly identical to a campaign video released last week. (Campaigning from the press room is illegal.) It was in February that the president said there were only 15 cases in the United States which would “soon” be going down to zero. As of writing, there are over 600,000 cases in the US and over 26,000 deaths.
